Things I Swore I’d Never Buy as a Mom…Until I Did

Before I became a mom, I had a long list of things I’d never spend money on.

Turns out, motherhood is really good at changing your mind.

Here are a few purchases I rolled my eyes at…until I actually owned them.

A Robot Vacuum

I thought these were unnecessary.

Then I had kids.

Now I run ours almost every day, and it somehow finds enough crumbs to make me question everything.

Robot vacuum – My robot vacuum and I are besties. Her name is Rosie, like the maid from the Jetsons, and we refer to her as such. “Im going to run Rosie tonight!” That’s code for pick up your junk.

Floor cleaner solution – You are supposed to use robot vacuum specific cleaning solution and so, since I want Rosie to live forever, I looked for one. This one is the best melting that I’ve tried so far.

An Air Fryer

I resisted for years because I thought it would just take up counter space.

Now it’s probably my most-used kitchen appliance.

Leftovers are actually crispy again, and frozen foods cook so much faster.

Air fryer – I know this one might give you a bit of sticker shock but I promise I wouldn’t recommend it if we didn’t absolutely love it.

Air Fryer Liners – For an extra $10, these really save so much cleaning time. I use one every single time and they help contain everything so there’s very minimal clean up required.

A Milk Frother

Did I need café-style coffee at home?

No.

Did it make my mornings feel a little more special?

Absolutely.

Milk frother – This is the best frother I’ve owned. I tried a couple of the cheaper ones and, while they get the job done, this one comes with the little carafe to make cold foam in!

A Giant Water Bottle

It seemed excessive.

Now I drink so much more water because I’m not constantly refilling a tiny cup.

Mom wins come in strange forms sometimes.

Water bottle – I love this cup so much that I went back and bought a second one. I’ve got the cream leopard and the tan leopard. It seems silly, but I really do drink more!

Peach ring drink mix – This is so good and I’m devastated that it’s currently unavailable. I haven’t seen it in stores anywhere so I’m crossing my fingers it comes back eventually.

Ultima lemonade drink mix – I mix one scoop of this with one packet of the peach from above in the 40 oz cup and it’s just so good. Toss in lots of ice and you’re good to go!

The Lesson

Motherhood has taught me that convenience isn’t laziness.

Sometimes buying the thing that saves time or makes life a little easier is worth every penny. I feel like I’m at a point in my life and my mom journey that I’d prefer to pay for convenience.

Especially if it helps me spend less time cleaning, cooking, or searching for things—and more time with my family.

What about you?

What’s something you swore you’d never buy…until you did?
